Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Access Committee
The Diversity and Inclusion Committee is dedicated to a vision of inclusion and mutual respect globally, and in the field of recreational therapy in Georgia. This committee will support clients, patients, providers, and programs in creating a more representative, equitable, and welcoming culture for all through conversations, strategic initiatives, education, and public advocacy.
Helpful Skills: Experience in diversity and inclusion initiatives in your workplace or school; Education or experience in bias, gender, race, ethnicity studies; Social Media; Writing; Public Speaking.
Recreational Therapy Education Committee
The Recreational Therapy Education Committee facilitates ongoing initiatives for the continuation of university or college-level recreational therapy education in the state of Georgia.
Helpful Skills: Knowledge of current RT academic programs and university requirements; Commitment to supporting the provision of qualified Rec Therapists for employment in GA.
Licensure Committee
The Licensure Committee works to pursue licensure for recreational therapists in the state of Georgia in order to protect public consumers and ensure the quality of services across settings and different providers. Actions might include talking with or writing to legislators, organizing and attending events at the capitol, and collaborating with relevant state contacts.
Helpful Skills: Knowledge of bills, legislation, public policy; Benefits of licensure for profession; And/or willingness to learn about this content; Advocacy/networking skills.
